This is my first fountain pen and I absolutely enjoy it! I had never used a fountain pen prior to this, and after trying a few different ones in the store I'm happy with the Pilot Metropolitan. It's comfortable, writes very cleanly with the fine nib, and is a joy to write with. I find myself writing more often just because the pen is so comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and they helped me determine the best options for starting out based on my preferences and writing style. If you're in the area you would enjoy your visit to their store. They know their stuff and they have excellent customer service!
The pen works great! The ink flow is consistent and it writes smoothly with no skip. The barrel is wider and a little heavier to hold but shaped just right for the perfect grip. I prefer to use it unposted though. Great pen to carry with everyday.
I got this with the 1.0mm "stub", which Pilot calls a "CM" for Calligraphy-Medium. It is crisper than my other stub nibs, as well as being finer than the typical 1.1mm stub. (That 0.1mm makes a bigger difference than you would think.) And the price is right.
