Color & Performance
Ama-iro is a luminous sky blue with subtle shading that adds character without sacrificing legibility. The ink flows smoothly and consistently across a wide range of nib sizes, with balanced lubrication that helps pens start easily. On fountain pen friendly paper, it typically resists feathering and bleedthrough and dries at a comfortable pace, though results will vary with paper and nib. As a dye-based formula, it is not waterproof.

Nice shading
My favorite inks are in the dark blue spectrum such as tsuki-yo, shin-kai, and yonaga. I was looking for a lighter blue ink as a less formal ink and more fun color. I'm not a big fan of a lot of the medium blue inks out there, such as kon-peki or asa-gao, as I find them too harsh to my eyes when looking at a full page written with them. I tried many samples of blues and I really liked ama-iro. It still looks quite unique and it is very easy on the eyes. I also like that there is a little bit of turquois-ey shade in ama-iro. It's a great everyday use ink!
