The Delta Duna Fountain Pen - Montana Sunset brings a vivid custom resin to one of Delta’s most approachable modern writing platforms. Deep blue and glowing orange flow through the material in irregular layers that evoke the last light of evening across a mountain horizon, giving the familiar Duna silhouette a much more dramatic visual identity.
Craftsmanship & Design
Each cap and barrel is individually turned from the custom Montana Sunset resin, so the balance of blue, orange, and translucent areas varies naturally from pen to pen. Some sections become nearly transparent, revealing color beneath the surface and giving the material unusual depth. Dark ruthenium trim provides a cool counterpoint to the bright resin and frames the domed cap, rounded barrel, cap ring, and Delta roller clip without competing with the pattern.
The Duna itself is intentionally traditional in proportion, which makes the custom resin the visual focus. Because every blank is cut differently, no two examples will share exactly the same distribution of color, translucency, or veining.
Writing Experience
The fountain pen uses a #6 JoWo stainless-steel nib and a built-in piston filling system with approximately 1ml of ink capacity. Standard options include Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and 1.1mm Stub, while Extra Fine Flex and Fine Flex provide additional line variation for writers who prefer a more expressive hand. The screw-cap design posts securely, and the rounded Duna profile remains comfortable for longer writing sessions.
Collector Context
Montana Sunset is limited to 188 pieces. The small production run, individually patterned resin, and broad nib selection make it more than a routine Duna colorway. Each numbered example has its own visual identity, giving collectors a meaningful degree of uniqueness within the edition.
